My Personal Computers

My first computer...

Bought by my father in March, 1991 (i was 9).

A personal computer with 386DX running at 33Mhz and 4MB SIMM RAM (30 pin). Equipped with a Seagate HDD model ST3096AT (80MB) and a FDD 1.2MB, 5.25". Graphics by Oak Technology model OTI057 (ISA) on 14" monitor. Added an ISA soundcard ESS Audiodrive, a 32X CD-ROM drive and a 1.44MB 3.5" FDD.

Installed OS: MS-DOS 5.0, Windows 3.1

This is the first computer brought into my life that changes everything. I have learned using keyboard and mouse, learned DOS commands (which i accidentally formatted the whole hard drive (sorry, abah) and everything is gone), learned to use the floppy drive, windows 3.1, and many others. I have wired two pcs of small speakers (stripped from broken speaker headphone) to internal speaker, that's my first invention for better sound! When we have the soundcard installed, i hooked it to a mini compo. We never bought multimedia speakers in this era! And that is the first experience for me to attach a soundcard. It has IDE interface which later i hooked it to a CD-ROM drive. I do these all on my own! Sweet!

Upgraded to 486DX2 running at 80MHz (overclocked) with 16MB EDO SIMM RAM (72 pin). Equipped with a Seagate HDD model ST310212A, capacity of 10GB. Graphics by Trident Microsystems Inc. model TGUI9440AGi 1MB VRAM (VLB). Soundcard by Aztech (ISA). 14" Syncmaster 3 CRT by Samsung.

Using the external modem K56Flex/v.90 by Cincaria, i configured the PC for use with TMNet 56K (local internet service provider). I was age 12.

With this second PC, i have experienced my first overclocking skill, attaching a VLB graphics card, configured a 10GB HDD for use with MS-DOS and my first ever attaching an external modem and configuring Windows 3.1 for internet.

To my friends out there, especially Zulfadzli, Irwin... you know what i'm talking about.

Years later, i crashed the 10GB hard drive and i lost EVERYTHING inside....

Learn from mistake, NEVER ever take out the hard drive without proper handling....
